About University

Located in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia University of Technology is a multi-disciplinary university with a strong focus on engineering, combining engineering, science, literature, economics, law, management, agriculture and art, and a complete talent training system for bachelors, masters and doctors. The University was founded in 1951 as the Suiyuan Senior Industrial School, which started the first engineering education in Inner Mongolia. 1958 saw the establishment of the Inner Mongolia College of Engineering with the support of Tsinghua University, which opened a new chapter of undergraduate education. 1983 saw the transfer of the University from the Ministry of Machinery Industry to the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. 1984 saw the University obtain the right to confer master's degrees in the second batch of national doctoral and master's degree authorisation audits. In 1993, the university changed its name to Inner Mongolia University of Technology (NMIU), which was a historical transformation from a single engineering college to a multidisciplinary university. 2003, the university was granted the right to confer doctoral degrees.
