Inner Mongolia Agricultural University is a multidisciplinary university with 8 disciplines, including agriculture, engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law and arts, mainly in agriculture and forestry, featuring grassland animal husbandry, and with a complete higher education system of high school, bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees. In 2012, it became a university jointly built by the State Forestry Administration (now the State Forestry and Grassland Administration) and the People's Government of the autonomous region, and in 2013, it entered the ranks of institutions supported by the National Plan for Revitalization of Higher Education in Central and Western China. History In 1952, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Hebei Agricultural College, Plain Agricultural College and Veterinary Medicine of Shanxi Agricultural College were moved to Guisui (now Hohhot) to establish Inner Mongolia Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine College, the first undergraduate higher education school in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. In 1999, Inner Mongolia College of Animal Husbandry and Animal Husbandry and Inner Mongolia College of Forestry were merged to form Inner Mongolia Agricultural University. Scale of schooling The university now has 24 faculties (departments), including the College of Animal Science, with 43,575 full-time students (29,791 in the main campus). Among them, there are 4,946 graduate students (724 doctoral students) and 198 international students. The university covers a total area of 15,000 mu (including the Science and Technology Park), and the campus covers a total area of 3,360 mu (2,630 mu for the main campus). The main campus has 409,200 square meters of teaching and administrative buildings, 4 standard athletic fields (gymnasiums), and 1.1 billion yuan of teaching and research instruments and equipment. Academic specialties There are 1 national key discipline, 3 national key cultivation disciplines, 26 provincial and ministerial key cultivation disciplines, and 11 autonomous region first-class construction disciplines. There are 12 post-doctoral research stations, 15 doctoral degree authorization points of first-level disciplines, 25 master's degree authorization points of first-level disciplines, and 16 types of master's professional degree authorization categories. There are 18 national and 8 autonomous regions-level first-class undergraduate majors. There are 91 undergraduate majors in general higher education, 2 pilot programs of the National Agricultural and Forestry Excellence Education and Training Program (including 8 majors), 7 national specialties, 1 national comprehensive reform pilot program, 40 autonomous region brand majors, 6 key construction majors, 1 undergraduate comprehensive reform pilot program, and 4 majors that have passed the national engineering education professional certification. The discipline of agricultural science has been ranked in the top 1% of ESI for five consecutive years. Faculty and Staff There are 2718 faculty members (2225 in the main campus), including 1691 full-time teachers (1359 in the main campus), 858 teachers with senior titles (742 in the main campus), accounting for 50.74% of the total full-time teachers (54.60% in the main campus); 1463 teachers with master's degree or above (1224 in the main campus), accounting for 86.52% of the total full-time teachers (90 in the main campus). There are one Distinguished Professor under the "Changjiang Scholar Award Program" and one National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation, two National Excellent Youth Foundation, and one "Ten Thousand People Plan" of the Ministry of Organization. There are 2 "Ten Thousand Plan" scientific and technological innovation leaders, 9 national candidates for the "Hundred Million Talents Project", 93 experts receiving special allowances from the State Council, 55 national and autonomous regions' young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions, 15 national and autonomous regions' outstanding 15 people who returned to China after studying abroad, 3 national model workers and advanced workers, 18 scientific and technological personnel who made outstanding contributions to the first line of industrial, agricultural and animal husbandry production in the autonomous region, 1 person who won the national "Young Woman Scientist Award", 3 chief experts of the "333 Talent Project" in the autonomous region, and 3 people who won the "New Talent Project". 3 chief experts, "New Century 321 Talent Project" 8 candidates at the first and second levels, 112 people selected as "Grassland Talent", 41 Grassland Talent teams, and 11 people awarded with the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Outstanding Talent Award. There are 2 national forestry and grassland "teaching masters", 28 autonomous region level teaching masters and 18 autonomous region level teaching rookies. Three members were selected as vice chairmen and nine members of the Steering Committee for Professional Teaching in Higher Education. Nine teachers were awarded the honorary title of "Smart Teaching Star" by the Online Education Research Center of the Ministry of Education. Teaching Work The university has 4 national first-class courses, 5 national high-quality courses, 2 national high-quality resource sharing courses, 42 regional-level first-class courses, 72 regional-level high-quality courses and 4 high-quality high-quality courses. There are 1 national experimental zone for innovation of talent cultivation mode, 2 national experimental teaching demonstration centers, 1 national off-campus practice education base for college students, 1 national cultural quality education base for college students, 3 bases for the first batch of agricultural science and education cooperation personnel training by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, 9 experimental teaching demonstration centers at the autonomous region level, 1 national teaching team and 23 teaching teams at the autonomous region level. Open schooling The university has established inter-university cooperation and academic exchanges with more than 70 universities and research institutions in more than 20 countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, Russia, Japan and Mongolia, and established the "China-Canada Sustainable Agriculture Research and Development Center" and the "Malik Management Center Inner Mongolia The university has established the "China-Canada Sustainable Agriculture Research and Development Center" and the "Malik Management Center Inner Mongolia Branch Center". In the past five years, the university has sent more than 240 teachers abroad for academic visits and exchanges, and more than 700 experts and professors from abroad have come to the university for academic exchanges, lectures and research cooperation. In 2012, the university became the host of the Ministry of Commerce's "One Belt, One Road" Education Assistance Program and academic exchanges and scientific research cooperation. In 2012, the university became the organizer of the Foreign Aid Training Program of the Ministry of Commerce, hosting 29 multilateral and bilateral foreign aid training sessions and training a total of 762 trainees from 54 countries. 2015, the university became the "Training and Research Center for Studying Abroad of the Ministry of Education", training a total of more than 8,000 trainees.
