Inner Mongolia Normal University (formerly Inner Mongolia Normal College) is the earliest higher education institution established by the Party and the State in the frontier ethnic areas after the founding of New China, the key university of the autonomous region, the institution supported by the National Plan for Revitalization of Higher Education in Central and Western China and the Ministry of Education's Plan to Support Higher Education Institutions in Western Regions. "On November 20, 1951, the People's Government of the autonomous region decided to build Inner Mongolia Normal College in Ulaanbaatar City and enrolled students in 1952, and in August 1954, the college moved westward to Hohhot City and merged with Inner Mongolia Normal College, which was formed in August 1953 by merging Zhangjiakou Teachers College and Suiyuan Teachers College. In 1978, the school started to enroll graduate students, and in 1982, it was renamed Inner Mongolia Normal University and was listed as a key university in the autonomous region. After several generations of hard work and exploration, the university has become an important base for training teachers in basic education, a center for training teachers in basic education, a center for continuing education of primary and secondary school teachers, and a research center for reform and development of basic education. The school has Saihan Campus and Shengle Campus, covering a total area of 2.228 million square meters, with a building area of 960,000 square meters, and fixed assets worth more than 3.48 billion yuan, including teaching instruments and equipment worth more than 720 million yuan. There are more than 2.76 million books in the collection and more than 2.33 million e-books and e-journals. The university has 20 party and government management institutions, 26 teaching institutions, 3 cooperative colleges, and 4 affiliated schools (including the second secondary school affiliated to Inner Mongolia Normal University and the second school affiliated to Inner Mongolia Normal University). There are 2166 teaching staff (excluding cooperative schools), including 1355 full-time teachers, 618 full-time teachers with doctoral degree, accounting for 46.3% of the total number of full-time teachers, 228 full-time teachers with full senior title, accounting for 16.8% of the total number of full-time teachers, 445 full-time teachers with associate senior title, accounting for 32.8% of the total number of full-time teachers. From 2002 to now, there are 1 national "Changjiang Scholar", 1 "Hundred Million Talents Project" and 1 national "Ten Thousand Talents Project". There are 98 undergraduate majors (including 24 general teacher training majors and 20 vocational education teacher training majors, 71 majors will be enrolled in 2021), covering 10 major disciplines. The university has 1 national quality course, 1 national quality video open course, 2 national teaching teams, 6 specialties construction points of the Ministry of Education, 1 national "comprehensive reform pilot", 1 autonomous region "comprehensive reform pilot", 32 autonomous region brand majors, and 1 regional brand majors. There are 32 brand majors at the autonomous region level, and 4 key majors at the autonomous region level. There are 78 high-quality courses of autonomous regions, 17 teaching teams of autonomous regions, and 10 experimental teaching demonstration centers of autonomous regions. There are 15 national-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites and 12 autonomous region level first-class undergraduate major construction sites. There is one key research base for cultivating undergraduate talents in ethnic areas of the Ministry of Education's Ethnic Education Development Center, and 18 key disciplines and key cultivation disciplines in the autonomous region. There is one national modern industrial college. The university has 8 first-level disciplines with doctoral degree granting authority, 1 post-doctoral research station, 27 first-level disciplines with master's degree granting authority, and 11 professional master's degrees; the university has the qualification of recommending admission for master's students without examination. The university has 53 research platforms at provincial and ministerial levels, including 1 research base of Chinese National Community of the National People's Committee, 3 country and regional research centers of the Ministry of Education, 4 key research bases of philosophy and social sciences of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, 1 research base for forging a sense of Chinese national community, 1 research center of applied mathematics of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, 7 key laboratories of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, 3 research centers of engineering technology of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and 1 research center of engineering technology of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. 3 engineering technology research centers, 3 academician expert workstations in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, 1 crowdsourcing space in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, 14 key research bases (including cultivation) of humanities and social sciences in higher education institutions in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, 5 key laboratories (including cultivation) in higher education institutions in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, 2 collaborative innovation centers in higher education institutions in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, 1 engineering research center in higher education institutions in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. There are 4 engineering research centers (engineering laboratories) in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, 2 bases for inheriting excellent Chinese traditional culture in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and 1 social science innovation platform (key laboratory) in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Over the past 70 years, the university has trained and delivered more than 280,000 graduates with the motto of "dedication, pragmatism, unity and progress". In 2009, the school was approved as a master's degree training unit for Chinese international education. The school has employed nearly 500 famous experts and scholars from home and abroad, including seven academicians and five academic members, as academic advisors, visiting professors and part-time professors. In the new historical development stage, the school is taking on the mission of "to build the country, we must first strengthen the teachers", based on the new development stage, implementing the new development concept, building a new development pattern, making every effort to promote the school's connotation of high-quality development, and making unremitting efforts to build the school into a first-class comprehensive teacher training university with distinctive characteristics of teacher education.
