Characteristic Discipline The discipline of Atmospheric Science of NUIST was established in 1960 for the demand of meteorology cause of New China. It enrolled postgraduate students in 1978 and in 1981, it was approved to confer the first batch of master's degrees. In 1993, it was approved to confer doctoral degree. In 1999, a postdoctoral research center was established in the high-level discipline of Atmospheric Science. In 1988, the sub-discipline of Meteorology and Climatology under the discipline of Atmospheric Science was also designated as a key discipline by China Meteorological Administration. Meteorology was designated as a national key discipline in 2001. In 2006, it passed the National Key Discipline Assessment of the Tenth Five-Year Plan and was granted National Key Discipline of the 11thFive-Year Plan in 2007. In 2012, the discipline of Atmospheric Science ranked No. 1 in the third round of university discipline evaluation organized by the Ministry of Education of China. In 2017, the discipline of Atmospheric Science became a "Double First-class" construction discipline, and won the "A+" grade in the fourth round of university discipline evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Education. Founded in 1958, Anhui Jianzhu University (abbreviated as AHJZU) is a multi-disciplinary university featured in civil engineering. Anhui University of Science and Technology is a high-level university with special features built in Anhui Province, a university jointly built by Anhui Province and the Ministry of Emergency Management of the People's Republic of China, a university supported by the National Midwest University Infrastructure Construction Project, and a university implemented by the Ministry of Education under the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program". The Huainan campus covers an area of about 3200 mu and the Hefei campus covers 340 mu. The university was founded in 1945, with the same root as Hefei University of Technology, and was the first engineering university in Anhui Province. 1955, the university was upgraded from Huainan Coal Mine Industrial College to Hefei Mining College, moved to Hefei in 1956, renamed as Hefei University of Technology in 1958, and in 1971, the whole establishment of coal-related disciplines and teachers of some basic courses were moved to Huainan. In 2002, the university was renamed Anhui University of Technology, and in 2022, the Anhui Automobile Industry School was incorporated into the university. Beijing Jiaotong University, a national key university under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education, jointly supported by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Transport, Beijing Municipal Government, and China Railway Corporation, is also an active contributor to the development of the "National 211 Project", the "985 Innovative Platforms for Key Disciplines Project". And the 'Double First-Class' construction. As one of the three founding bodies of the Jiaotong University, the history of BJTU can be dated back to 1896. BJTU originated from Beijing Railway Management Institute, China's first higher education institution committed to fostering railway management talents and was created by the Qing dynasty government. It is the birthplace of modern China's education in railway management and telecommunication. In 1917, it was divided into Beijing Railway Management School and Beijing Post and Telecommunication School. In 1921, the school merged with Shanghai Industrial College, and Tangshan Industrial College and formed the original Jiaotong University. After the restructuring of Jiaotong University in 1923, the Beijing campus was renamed Beijing Jiaotong University. The university's Computer Science Base was approbated as the National-Level Fundamental Discipline Elite Student Cultivation Base, and the School of Software Engineering was approbated as National Characteristic Model Software School. The university insists on creating synergy between its undergraduate and master programs, integration and fusion between disciplines, a close relationship between industry and university, and international connectivity.
