Fuzhou Polytechnic is a full-time higher vocational college approved by Fujian Provincial People's Government, registered by the Ministry of Education and organized by Fuzhou Municipal People's Government. The college is located in the college town of Fuzhou, with a campus area of 1,122.08 mu (400 mu of which is in the middle of relocation) and a total building area of about 250,000 square meters. The college now has 13 teaching institutions, including Intelligent Engineering Department, Information Engineering Department, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Department, Traffic Engineering Department, Construction Engineering Department, Cultural Innovation Department, Business Department, Special Education Department and Marxism college . The college is open to 17 provinces and autonomous regions, including Zhejiang, Hainan, Jiangxi, Anhui, Yunnan, Guangxi, Guizhou, Sichuan, Hunan, Henan, Shanxi, Gansu, Ningxia, Qinghai, Xinjiang and Tibet, and enrolls students in 44 majors. The college attaches great importance to social services and brand image, and vigorously carries out teacher training, vocational training, vocational skill identification and vocational qualification certification. Fujian Normal University (FNU), a century-old university based in Fuzhou, a historic cultural city known as “Land of Culture on the Coast”, is a time-honored and well-acclaimed provincial institution of higher learning. Founded as Fujian Superior Normal School in 1907 by the famous late-Qing scholar Chen Baochen, who once served as the teacher of China’s last emperor, the present day FNU went through a few changes—merging with the former Hwa-Nan Women’s College of Arts and Sciences, Fukien Christian University and Fujian Provincial Teachers School respectively—to form Fujian Teachers College in 1953. In 1972, the University was renamed Fujian Normal University and has been thus referred to since then. In 2012, the Ministry of Education and Fujian government began to jointly support the development of the University. FNU was designated as provincial high-level university for prioritized construction in 2014 and as provincial first-class university in 2018. The vicissitudes in its century-old history notwithstanding, a fine scholarly tradition has been inherited and sustained by generation after generation of its faculty and students. FNU is proud to count among its teaching staff quite a few internationally renowned scientists and men of letters, including Ye Shengtao, Guo Shaoyu, Dong Zuobin, Lin Lanying, Zheng Zuoxin, Huang Weiyuan, Tang Zhongzhang, Tang Chongti, and Yao Jiannian. A traditional and innovative commitment to academic excellence by its teachers and students alike, unswerving even at times of trials and adversities, has given rise to a distinctive ethos embodied in FNU’s motto–To Know and to Act, with Devotion and with Aspiration. FNU publishes a long list of scholarly journals, including The Journal of Fujian Normal University (the humanities and social sciences edition), The Journal of Fujian Normal University (the natural sciences edition), both are designated as “core periodicals published in Chinese”. The former edition has been listed as one of the “journals of renowned columns” by the Ministry of Education and the source journal of Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index, while the latter has been selected as one of China’s “core periodicals in science and technology” and the source journal of Chinese Science Citation Database. The FNU library, one of China’s ancient book protection centers, holds a collection of 4 million paper books and nearly 3 million electronic books. Whereas the number marks it out as one of the largest libraries in normal universities throughout China, the FNU library is famed internationally for its impressive collections of ancient texts, rare books, rubbings of engraved tablets, calligraphic works and paintings, Fujian’s local cultural and historical documents, early editions of foreign language publications, and major newspapers published during the historic period known as the May Fourth Movement. The University boasts sophisticated and extensively-applicable internet facilities and complete wi-fi coverage, and, to provide for various sports games, training, as well as for fitness, a number of state-of-the-art and well-equipped stadiums and sports fields. Affiliated to FNU, there are one branch college (in Fuqing City), one high school and one elementary school. The Affiliated High School of FNU is acclaimed in the province as the holder of the greatest number of International Science Olympiad medals. Fujian Medical University (FJMU) was founded in 1937. With the mission of creating and nurturing a diverse community of elites who are "diligent, prudent, truth-seeking and innovative", for over 70 years, it has developed an integral education system offering bachelor's, master's and doctor's degree programs. In 2003, FJMU was approved by Fujian Provincial People's Government as one of the key universities for priority development. Now, it consists of Shangjie campus and Taijiang campus,covering an area of approximately 87 hectares with a floor space of 400,000 square meters. FJMU currently provides 25 bachelor programs, including Clinical Medicine (7-Year Program and 5-Year Program), Stomatology, Preventive Medicine, Medical Laboratory Tests and Analysis, Anesthesiology, Medical Imaging, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Utilities Management, Social Work, etc. At present, in Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Medicine, Clinical Stomatology and Pharmacology, FJMU confers doctoral degrees, as well as master's degrees which also cover Biology, Stomatology, Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Integrative Medicine, Pharmacy, and Social Medicine and Health Care Management. The University has a full-time enrollment of 12,000 undergraduates, and over 2,200 postgraduate and doctoral students. It has been approved to offer undergraduate programs to students from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and foreign countries. In addition, it has established a multi-disciplinary and multi-level continuing medical education system. Now, FJMU's 477 professors and chief physicians, along with 682 associate professors and associate chief physicians, make part of its faculty members and medical personnel totalling up to 5,638, in which there are 528 master's and doctor's supervisors. Our network of 13 affiliated hospitals (including schools of clinical medicine) and 29 teaching hospitals, affords desirable clinical teaching programs and training opportunities for medical students. In FJMU, there are 2 research stations that offer postdoctoral fellowships (for Clinical Medicine and Basic Medical Sciences), 1 key laboratory of the Ministry of Education, 7 key laboratories & research centers jointly supported by the Ministry of Education and Fujian Province, 12 provincial key disciplines, 5 key laboratories of Fujian, and 19 provincial scientific research institutes. The University publishes several academic periodicals, entitled Journal of Fujian Medical University (Medical Science Edition), Journal of Fujian Medical University (Social Science Edition), Chinese Journal of Hypertension, and Chinese Journal of Cardiovascular Rehabilitation. The predecessor of Fujian University of Agriculture and Forestry is the Department of Agriculture of Fujian Union University established in 1936 and Fujian Provincial Agricultural College established in 1940, and in 1952, the two cultural lines came together to establish Fujian Agricultural College, and in the autumn of 1958, the provincial government established Fujian Forestry College based on the Department of Forestry of Fujian Agricultural College, and in October 2000, the former Fujian Agricultural University and the former Fujian Forestry College merged to form the new Fujian In October 2000, the former Fujian Agricultural University and the former Fujian Forestry College merged to form the new Fujian University of Agriculture and Forestry. Founded in 1958, Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (FJTCM) is one of the earliest established TCM universities in China. The university also set up Guoyitang Clinic in Pingshan Campus to provide medical service to the public. FJTCM has 2 campuses and occupies an area of about 68.67 hectares with a floor space of over 340,000 square meters. The value of teaching and research apparatus is more than 400 million yuan and there are 1.38 million paper books and 1.01 million e-books in the library. The university has excellent facilities, equipped with modern teaching, researching and living facilities, and has built a cultural landscape reflecting TCM culture. Because of its graceful environment, rich and vibrant campus life with TCM characteristics, the university has been awarded the Nation Pioneer Unit on TCM Culture Construction, the National Verdurization Model Unit, and has been consecutively entitled Civilized Campus for seven times by Fujian provincial committee & government. FJTCM promotes the construction of a conservation-oriented campus, and was identified as the first batch of National Conservation Oriented Demonstration Unit of Public Institutions, and won the honorary title of Energy Efficiency Leader of Public Institutions in the country. FJTCM is the first TCM university in the mainland to enroll Taiwan students and is the first to build the province’s overseas TCM center “China-Philippines TCM Center”.
