Sichuan Fine Arts Institute is the only higher art academy in Southwest China. It currently has Huangjueping Campus in Jiulongpo District and Huxi Campus in University Town of Shapingba District, covering a total area of 1,200 acres. In November 2018, the school selected a site of 150 acres in Chongqing Liangjiang New District to establish the International School of Design (Western China Art Port). The school now has the School of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Art, the School of Plastic Arts, the School of Arts and Humanities, the School of Art Education, the School of Film and Animation, the School of Architecture and Environmental Art, the School of Design, the School of Experimental Art, and the School of Public Art. Since the beginning of the new century, the school’s education has developed rapidly. It has built first-class professional art museums and libraries, first-class art creation communities, first-class art teaching demonstration centers, first-class innovation and entrepreneurship "mass creation space", and professional art in the country. The colleges have good conditions for running a school. In recent years, the number of applicants for undergraduate courses has reached more than 100,000, and the number of applicants for graduate students has reached more than 3,000. The school has 628 full-time teachers, and 7,550 full-time undergraduates, postgraduates and international students. The school has four first-level disciplines under the category of fine arts, design, drama and film, and art theory, all of which are enrolled for master's degree students. During the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, 4 first-level disciplines were listed as Chongqing's key disciplines for support and construction, of which fine arts and design were listed as Chongqing's first-class disciplines for support and construction. In the fourth round of national discipline evaluation, 4 first-level disciplines were on the list. Among them, Fine Arts was rated A-, and Design was rated B+. The discipline strength is in the forefront of Chongqing and similar colleges and universities across the country. The school has 22 undergraduate enrollment majors, of which painting, sculpture, animation, art design, and industrial design are national specialty construction points; fine arts, design, drama and film and television are Chongqing's specialty disciplines, painting, sculpture 10 majors including product design, environmental design, visual communication design, fashion design, animation, drama, film and television art, architecture, and fine arts theory are included in the Chongqing "Three Specials" Action Plan for support and construction. Since the "13th Five-Year Plan", the school has established a "domestic first-class, internationally renowned" school positioning and a "high-quality, innovative, practical" artistic talent training goal, adheres to the foundation, comprehensively carries out teaching construction, and builds a "big platform" +Multi-channel" talent training model. Together, they occupy an area of nearly 2,900 Mu (1,912,827m2) in total, including over 819,584m2 school buildings and 457,316m2 administrative buildings. The total fixed assets of the University are valued at CNY 3,471,116,300, including scientific research instruments and equipment costing CNY 553,994,300 and books numbering 2,022,000. Currently, the University has eighteen teaching departments consisting of sixty-two general undergraduate disciplines, three centers for post-doctoral studies, four first-level discipline doctoral degree programs, fourteen second-level discipline doctoral degree programs, sixteen first-level discipline master’s degree programs, fifty-four second-level discipline master’s degree programs and five professional degree programs.
