About University

History: Nanchang Hangkong University was founded in 1952 and was one of the first batch of bachelor's degree granting units in China; it started to cultivate master's degree students in 1985 and was granted master's degree in 1990. It was affiliated with the Ministry of Aviation Industry, the Ministry of Aerospace Industry and the China National Aviation Industry Corporation. In 1999, it started to implement the management system of co-construction between the central government and local government, with the local government as the main management. Features: The university adheres to the university motto of "New Day, Self-improvement, Unity of Knowledge and Action", the university spirit of "Diligence, Civilization, Pragmatism and Innovation" and the university spirit of "Unity and Self-improvement, Striving for Upward" of Chang Hang. The university has 28 majors in aviation, national defense and related fields, accounting for 40% of all majors in the university. East China University of Technology (ECUT), originating from Taigu Geological School and was established in 1956. As a state defense institution and the first college in nuclear industry in China, ECUT has enjoyed a history of over 60 years with fine reputation in research and education. In 1958, the school moved to Fuzhou and later to Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. Presently ECUT is jointly run by Jiangxi Government and China Atomic Energy Association (CAEA), the Ministry of Natural Resource (MNR), China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC). Since its establishment, ECUT has focused its education and research in the field of Nuclear Science and Geology Science, with the relevant disciplines developed gradually. Based on the featured disciplines ECUT has developed into the fields of Geological Tourism, Geological Economy, Geological Chemistry, and Geological Environment etc. So far, ECUT has extended its education and research to engineering, science, language, management, economy and arts, among which1 doctoral program, 71 master programs and 72 bachelor programs, forming more than 20 schools and research centers. Thanks to the persistence in the traditional disciplines, Geology, Chemistry and Electronics are ranked as the provincial top disciplines and funded by the government, leading to a further development of the university. ECUT has 2 campuses located in  and Fuzhou of a southern China province, Jiangxi. The main campus is situated in Nanchang, the capital city of the province, with the other campus approximately 100 km southeast of Jiangxi, a small bustling city boasting 2,100 years of history famous for a play writer Tang Xianzu who lived 400 years ago and was titled as Eastern Shakespeare. On the campuses visitors can enjoy the ancient and traditional culture including the Linchuan opera, “the Peony Pavilion”. Both campuses are easily accessible by plane, train, bus, or automobile. ECUT has a team of over 2,800 full time staff, including over 200 professors. Three of them are entitled as Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering or the Foreign Academician of Russian Academy of Science and some professors are granted other national or international distinguished titles due to their education or research achievements. Half of the faculty at ECUT possesses doctoral degrees, forming a high qualified teaching and researching team. For these, ECUT has developed several groups of experts carrying out national and international important projects focusing on the frontiers of fields of Geology, Geophysics, Hydrogeology, Chemistry, Material and Electronics etc. We also have a group of highly qualified foreign teachers and experts from around the world, including the United States, Canada, Australia, Russia, England, Ireland, South Africa, Japan, India and many other countries along the “Belt and Road”, all of whom interact with students and teachers on a daily basis and take part in extracurricular activities. So far, there are 19 national and provincial laboratories have been established, i.e. State Key Laboratory of “Nuclear Resources and the Environment, CAEA Key Discipline Laboratory of “Radioactive Geology and Exploration Technology”, Science Ministry’s International Cooperation Base of “Earth Environment”, Education Ministry’s Engineering Research Center of “Nuclear Technology”, Reference Laboratory of IAEA, National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of “Radioactive Geology”, etc. Besides, there are two training centers----Uranium Geology and Isotope Hydrology Advanced Training Center of IAEA, and Overseas Uranium Resources Exploration and Development Personnel Training Center, etc. More than that, we have an international joint construction research platform “Mass Spectrometry Science and Instruments”, employing quite a few foreign scholars including American and Russian Academicians and Nobel Prize winner doing research here. The university believes in an open way of education, and thereby frequent academic communications are carried out with a great many overseas universities and research institutes from more than 20 countries like America, Russia, Japan, Australia, Ireland, etc. With a history of more than 60 years, and an open attitude to innovation, ECUT presents a great potentiality in scientific research. Every year, great achievements of various levels are reached by the staff or institutions, with over 1000 papers published and accepted by SCI issues. Dr. Tang Bin was awarded the 2 nd Class of The State Scientific and Technological Progress Award in 2017 and other honorable awards from National Defense Department. Teachers carry out many National Social/Natural Fund Projects, showing great research and education potentiality in relevant research field. In addition, ECUT carries out many international projects supported by IAEA or foreign institutions. Our achievements are also granted various awards, covering National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology, National Bureau Awards, Provincial Awards, etc. ECUT provides convenient facilities for the students and staff, assisting their study and work on the campuses. All campuses are inter-connected with advanced computer networks and its high speed Wi-Fi access is supported by dedicated fiber optic cables connecting offices, classrooms, as well as student and teacher dormitories. Jiangxi Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine is a comprehensive hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention, health care and rehabilitation. It is the first "Grade III, GRADE A Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine" in Jiangxi Province. A total of 1,745 hospital beds were opened. It has been awarded as "National Advanced Unit of Health System", "National Advanced Unit of Medical and Health System" and "National Advanced Unit of Fashion Construction of Health System". In 2018, the Second Affiliated Hospital was approved as a "Class III, Class A Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine hospital", with more than 400 beds. It has established the world's first heat-sensitive Moxibustion Hospital, Jiangxi Heat-sensitive Moxibustion Hospital, and established the Jiangxi TCM Rehabilitation (heat-sensitive Moxibustion) Alliance. Jiangxi Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital (the fourth affiliated Hospital of Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine) is jointly built and managed by Nanchang Municipal People's Government. During the fight against COVID-19, he led the formulation of a TCM prevention and treatment plan for COVID-19 in Jiangxi province, established the first designated hospital for integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment outside Wuhan, Hubei Province, and organized TCM experts to assist Uzbekistan in its fight against COVID-19, which was highly praised at home and abroad.

Nanchang University (NCU) is a comprehensive university listed among the “the Word First-class Disciplines” in the national “Double First-Class” Initiative of China, the only “211 Project” national key university in Jiangxi Province which is co-constructed by the Chinese Ministry of Education and Jiangxi Province, and it is the overall construction university of Jiangxi Province high-level universities construction project. Located in Nanchang, the City of Heroes, NCU consists of 4 campuses, which are Qian-Hu main campus, Qingshan-Hu campus, Dong-Hu campus and Poyang-Hu campus. Among them, the Qianhu main campus covers an area of more than 228 hectares and building area of 1.5 million square meters. The history of NCU dates from Jiangxi Public Medical College and National Chung-cheng University, which were founded in 1921 and 1940 respectively. In 1993, Jiangxi University merged with Jiangxi Industrial University into Nanchang University, which created a precedent for the reform of the national higher education system. In 2005, NCU and Jiangxi Medical College merged to form the new NCU, unveiling a new page of reform and development. Over the years, leadership of Central Party Committee and Central Government, the Ministry of Education, Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee and Jiangxi Provincial Government have attached great important to the construction and development of NCU. “Nanchang University has unlimited prospects”, President Xi Jinping said when he first visited NCU in October 2008. In February 2016, President Xi visited Nanchang University again and delivered an important speech on the roles of universities played in scientific research innovation and talents cultivation. Characteristic Discipline The discipline of Atmospheric Science of NUIST was established in 1960 for the demand of meteorology cause of New China. It enrolled postgraduate students in 1978 and in 1981, it was approved to confer the first batch of master's degrees. In 1993, it was approved to confer doctoral degree. In 1999, a postdoctoral research center was established in the high-level discipline of Atmospheric Science. In 1988, the sub-discipline of Meteorology and Climatology under the discipline of Atmospheric Science was also designated as a key discipline by China Meteorological Administration. Meteorology was designated as a national key discipline in 2001. In 2006, it passed the National Key Discipline Assessment of the Tenth Five-Year Plan and was granted National Key Discipline of the 11thFive-Year Plan in 2007. In 2012, the discipline of Atmospheric Science ranked No. 1 in the third round of university discipline evaluation organized by the Ministry of Education of China. In 2017, the discipline of Atmospheric Science became a "Double First-class" construction discipline, and won the "A+" grade in the fourth round of university discipline evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Education.
